The limestone walls above Magliolo have been developed into a network of sport-climbing crags that draw a steady stream of climbers from across Europe, especially in winter and the shoulder seasons when the Ligurian sun stays kind. Routes range from short slabby beginner's lines to long overhanging tufa pitches; well over 200 routes are bolted across half a dozen sectors.
The most popular sectors are Rocca delle Penne and Cipressa, both accessible by short walk-ins from forest tracks above the village. The local guidebook (sold in a couple of Finale Ligure shops) is essential; the rock is sharp and abrasive, but the views down the valley to the sea are some of the best in this part of Liguria.
