Millesimo is a compact medieval hill town in the upper Val Bormida, ringed by the ruins of its old walls and dominated by a hilltop castle. The pleasure of the place is in the wandering: cross the old battlemented bridge over the Bormida, walk up to the ruined Del Carretto castle, and look for the remnants of the Benedictine cloister now folded into a private villa. The Bric Tana regional park starts at the edge of town for those who want to walk further.
