The hills around Pigna are among the best walking terrain in western Liguria. The Alta Via dei Monti Liguri — the long-distance ridge trail that runs the length of the Ligurian Alps — passes above the village, and several day walks connect from here to Monte Toraggio (1,972 m) and the ridges forming the French border. The views from the upper trails, looking south to the Mediterranean and north to the Alps, are outstanding.
Shorter loops from the village take in terraced olive groves, chestnut forests, and isolated hamlets. The terrain is moderately demanding — most trails involve significant altitude gain from the valley — but nothing beyond the capability of a fit walker. Trails are marked with the standard Italian CAI waymarks. A decent map (the Fraternali series covers the area) is advisable; the IGN French topographic maps are useful for the border zone. Bring water; springs are infrequent on the upper ridges in summer.
