Lungomare Vittorio Veneto

The Lungomare Vittorio Veneto is Rapallo's seafront promenade, curving around the western side of the harbour from the castle to the marina. It is lined with palms, pink and yellow hotels, and the usual run of bars and gelaterias. The walk from the castle to the far end of the marina takes about twenty minutes at a leisurely pace.

The promenade is the social heart of the town, especially in the evenings, when the Ligurian passeggiata fills it end to end. It is here that Ezra Pound lived for much of the 1920s and 1930s — he had an apartment overlooking the seafront and wrote large sections of the Cantos while watching the boats in the bay. Max Beerbohm, the satirist and caricaturist, also lived in Rapallo for decades and is buried in the town.
