The valley is well connected to Genoa by rail — the main line through Ronco Scrivia and Busalla runs several times daily and takes under an hour from Genova Principe. The scenic narrow-gauge Ferrovia Genova–Casella is a separate line departing from Genova Piazza Manin; it runs to Casella and is an experience in itself.
By road, the A7 autostrada follows roughly the same corridor and connects Genoa to the Po Plain via the Giovi Pass. The valley's upper reaches are best explored by car.
