Museo Etnografico della Val Varatella

The ethnographic museum occupies the former stables of the Palazzo dell'Aste in the centre of Toirano. Founded in 1982, it holds around a thousand objects relating to daily life in the Val Varatella between the 17th and 20th centuries — olive presses, hand tools, looms, kitchen equipment, and a reconstructed kitchen with hearth and copper pots.

It is the kind of small museum that is easy to skip but rewards a short visit: the focus on olive oil production in particular gives a clear sense of how this valley made its living for several centuries. Free or token entry; opening hours are limited so check in advance.
