Passo del Faiallo

At 1,044 metres on the watershed between the Olba and Polcevera valleys, Passo del Faiallo is one of the great viewpoints of the Ligurian Apennines. A small parking area at the top gives onto a sudden, vertiginous view down to Genoa, the coast, and the Mediterranean.

In summer, locals come up to escape the heat of the coast; in winter the pass is sometimes closed by snow but the view is at its best. A small refuge serves wood-fired pizza and farinata.

A story
On a clear winter day, the view from the pass reaches across the Ligurian Sea to Corsica, more than 150 km away. The pass road is closed in heavy snow but normally drivable from late spring to autumn.
