Villa Toeplitz

Historic Varese villa and terraced park with fountains, exotic plantings, and mountain views

Villa Toeplitz stands on a hill at Sant'Ambrogio Olona, east of central Varese, with a park that shows why the city is so often sold as a garden town. The villa took its name from banker Giuseppe Toeplitz, and the grounds mix formal paths, water features, exotic trees, and views towards the surrounding hills.

The park is the main reason to go, especially if you are already following Varese's chain of villas and gardens. The villa itself has institutional uses, but the grounds and the Castiglioni Museum give the stop enough substance for a relaxed half-day outside the centre.
