Leuca's coastline is cut with grottoes, arches, and small caves, especially west around Punta Ristola. Some can be reached on foot or by swimming in calm conditions, but the usual way to see them is by boat from the harbour.
The names are theatrical, as cave names often are: Grotta del Diavolo, Grotta delle Tre Porte, Grotta del Fiume, Grotta degli Innamorati. The real pleasure is simpler: pale limestone, clear water, and the feeling of rounding the very end of Salento.
