Palazzo Valdes is an elegant Cagliari building below the Bastione di Saint Remy, with an older section by Nicolò Mura and a later wing by Riccardo Simonetti. Its granite base, terracotta decoration, and rounded wall on Piazza Marghinotti make it more interesting than a quick glance suggests.
It is a good architectural pause while moving between the Bastione, Via Sulis, and the lower streets of the old city.
