Caprera

Caprera is the second-largest island in the archipelago, connected to La Maddalena by a short causeway. It is greener and quieter than the main island, with good beaches, a military zone (the Italian navy occupies part of it), and the Garibaldi museum as its main draw. The interior has walking paths through Mediterranean scrub and pine forest.

The main beaches are on the south and east sides of the island. Cala Coticcio, at the southeastern tip, requires a walk or a boat to reach and is consistently rated among the most beautiful coves in the Mediterranean. The northern part of Caprera is a military installation and closed to the public.
