The southern watchtower at Porto Ferro bay, less visited than Torre Negra at the north end, stands on a dune headland with views back along the full sweep of the beach. It is in rougher condition than its counterpart — the stonework has weathered badly — but it provides the better vantage point for watching the sunset over the sea.
The approach path from the beach passes through low maquis scrub of cistus, mastic, and rosemary. In late spring the dunes behind the tower are colourful with wildflowers. The beach below, sheltered by the headland, tends to catch less wind than the main bay and is popular with families.
