Mother Church of Saints Peter and Paul

Collesano's main church stands above a broad monumental staircase, giving the small Madonie town a surprisingly grand focal point. The basilica was begun in the early 16th century and later reshaped by the same local taste for theatrical stonework seen across inland Sicily.

Inside, look for frescoes by Giuseppe Salerno, known as Zoppo di Gangi, along with a solid collection of paintings and sculpture. It is an easy stop while exploring Collesano and the old Targa Florio country roads.
