Gangi

Gangi sits on the inland edge of the Madonie, stacked across a hill with the kind of silhouette that makes you pull over before you even reach it. It is one of Sicily's most handsome interior towns, but it still feels remote from the coastal circuit.

The old centre is steep and compact, with stone houses, churches, and views toward the wider Sicilian interior. Come for the approach as much as the monuments: the town appears as a mass of roofs and walls rising from the countryside.
