Palazzo Antinori & Cantinetta Antinori

15th-century palazzo still owned by the Antinori wine family; ground-floor cantinetta serves Tuscan wines and food

Address Piazza Antinori 3, Florence

Palazzo Antinori is one of Florence's finest 15th-century palaces, built for the Boni family around 1461-1466 and acquired by the Antinori in 1506. The family has owned it ever since, making it a rare example of continuous aristocratic occupation over more than five centuries. The Marchesi Antinori are one of Tuscany's great wine dynasties — their estates produce Tignanello, Solaia, and other benchmark Tuscan wines.

The ground-floor Cantinetta Antinori operates at lunch as a wine bar and restaurant, pouring the estate's current releases alongside a menu of Tuscan antipasti, pastas, and secondi. It is reliable rather than exceptional as a restaurant, but the setting — low vaulted ceilings, dark stone floors, the sense of eating in a genuine medieval palazzo still in family hands — is memorable. Booking ahead for lunch is advisable. The wine list is naturally one-sided but excellent within its range.
