Pioneering Renaissance palazzo with Alberti-designed facade

Built between 1446 and 1458 for Giovanni Rucellai to designs by Leon Battista Alberti, this is one of the earliest examples of Renaissance palazzo architecture, notable for its rusticated façade organized on classical pilaster orders. Today it houses the Museo di Storia della Fotografia Fratelli Alinari. The adjacent loggia is also attributed to Alberti.
