Porta Fiorentina

The western gate of the medieval walls, facing Florence as the name suggests. The road through it is the historic exit from town toward the Arno bridge and onward to the city, fourteen kilometres downstream.

It is the plainest of the three surviving gates — a simple round arch in a stretch of wall, with little decoration. Walk through it to reach the Medici bridge a few minutes downhill.
