The Rifugio Venezia "Alba Maria de Luca", at 1,946 metres at the southern foot of Monte Pelmo, is the main mountain hut serving climbers on Pelmo and walkers on the Alta Via 1. It is reached from Vodo via the Forcella Staulanza road in about an hour, or from the village directly by a longer trail through the forest.
The hut sleeps about fifty in dormitories and a few private rooms, and serves classic alpine mountain food — large plates of polenta, sausages, soups, the kind of cooking that revives after a long walk. Open from mid-June to late September. Book ahead for August.
