The Gulbene-Alūksne Bānītis is the reason Gulbene belongs on a travel map. The 33 km line is the only narrow-gauge railway in the Baltics still running regular passenger services, using diesel trains and occasional heritage events.
Ride at least part of the line rather than only photographing the station. The trip is slow in the best sense, passing forests, small stations, and rural Vidzeme at a pace that makes the railway feel alive rather than preserved behind glass.
