The Holy Trinity Church was destroyed in the war and never rebuilt, but its tower survived as Jelgava's most useful landmark. Inside are exhibitions on the city and church history; at the top, the view helps make sense of the palace, river islands, and broad Soviet-era gaps in the centre.
It is also home to the tourist information office, so it is a sensible first stop before walking to the palace or Academia Petrina.
