The chairlift runs from the town centre up to the hill above the Our valley, carrying visitors to the viewpoint from which the classic view of Vianden — castle, town, and valley all in one frame — is visible. It operates in spring and summer and takes a few minutes each way.
The viewpoint at the top also connects to walking trails through the forested hills above the town. You can walk back down rather than taking the chairlift in reverse, following the trail that drops back into the old town past the castle walls.
