Lake Mladost, also called Veles Lake, is the town's easy outdoor escape, about eight kilometres north near Otovica. It is an artificial lake, but locals use it like a small resort area for walks, meals, fishing, and summer breaks from the city heat.
It is most useful if you have a car or taxi and want a softer stop after the urban slopes of Veles. Do not expect wilderness; expect a local recreation lake with open views and a slower rhythm.
