Mdina sits in the centre of Malta, about 12 kilometres west of Valletta. Bus route 52 connects it directly to Valletta's main bus terminus at the City Gate; the journey takes around 45 minutes. Several other routes stop at the nearby town of Rabat, from which Mdina is a ten-minute walk.
By car, Mdina is signposted from the main central Malta roads. Parking is available in Rabat just outside the walls — no cars are permitted inside the city except for the handful of residents. Taxis and rideshares from Valletta take around 20 minutes.
