One of Marken's distinctive buurt clusters — a tight group of painted wooden fishermen's houses built on a raised mound to keep them above floodwater before the dyke was built. The houses are pressed together with only narrow alleys between them, giving the neighbourhood an almost medieval density. Rozewerf is among the most photographed parts of Marken; the green-painted exteriors are characteristic of the island's traditional style.
