Streekhistorisch Centrum

Streekhistorisch Centrum tells the local history of the Veenkoloniƫn and Westerwolde, two landscapes shaped by peat, farming, canals, and borderland villages. It is housed in Huize Ter Marse, an 1884 villa that gives the museum a more personal feel than a plain archive would.

Come here if you want context before exploring the villages and countryside around Onstwedde. The collection is modest, but useful for understanding why this corner of Groningen looks and feels different from the Dutch west.
