Florø Church

Florø Church is a neo-Gothic wooden church built in 1893, one of the more elegant buildings in a town that otherwise makes few architectural claims on your attention. The steep pitched roof, pointed spire, and decorative timber detailing are characteristic of Norwegian church-building in the late nineteenth century, when the style was fashionable across the country. It seats around 400 people and remains the main parish church for the town.

Inside, the church is lighter and simpler than its exterior suggests. The altarpiece and wooden fittings are original to the building. Services are held regularly, and the building is generally open during the day for visitors. From the churchyard there are views across the rooftops toward the harbour and the islands beyond.
