Halden sits on the E6 motorway, about 1.5 hours south of Oslo and 35 km south of Fredrikstad — the last Norwegian town before the Swedish border crossing at Svinesund. Trains run regularly from Oslo (around 2 hours) and from Gothenburg in Sweden. There's no airport in town; the nearest is Torp Sandefjord, roughly 1.5 hours away.
