Day 8: Midnight at Tromsø

Lyngen Alps at midnight under the summer sun

On day eight, the ship passes the Lyngen Alps again around midnight — this time heading south. If you missed them on day four, this is your second chance. The midnight sun sits low on the water, turning the jagged peaks pink and orange while every passenger on deck reaches for a camera. It is one of those moments that justifies the whole voyage.

Tromsø itself, the largest city in northern Norway, is worth a stop if you have time ashore. The Arctic Cathedral and the Polar Museum are the main draws, but the waterfront cafes and the view back toward the mountains are reason enough to linger.
