This day starts at Harstad and ends at Stamsund in the Lofoten Islands, passing through major parts of both the Lofoten and Vesterålen archipelagos. Everything is a thrill: the bird rocks, the narrow navigation channels, the bridges, the small towns, and the fabulous though brief detour into Trollsfjord — a tight, dramatic gorge that the Hurtigruten just barely fits through.
