Uranienborg is the little hill that gives Mandal its best quick view. The climb is short and steep enough to feel like an outing, and from the top you can look over the river, the old centre, the harbour, and the broken coastline beyond.
It is worth doing early in a visit because it explains the town's geography at a glance: river town, beach town, and Skagerrak harbour all folded into one small place.
