Skålatårnet is the stone tower near the summit of Skåla, high above Loen and Nordfjord. The walk up is long, steep, and exposed, but the reward is a huge view over fjord water, glacier country, and the dark mountains around Stryn.
This is a serious hike rather than a casual viewpoint. Start early, carry proper gear, and skip it in poor weather unless you know exactly what you are doing. Fit walkers with clear skies will find it one of the area's most memorable mountain days.
