Day Trips

The single best day trip from Białystok is the Białowieża Forest — the last fragment of European lowland primaeval forest, home to the continent's largest population of wild bison. It is about two hours by car each way; allow a long day. The Tatar villages of Kruszyniany and Bohoniki, east of the city, are also a rewarding half-day for their 17th-century wooden mosques and the Tatar cuisine served in family-run inns.
