Basilica of St Nicholas

14th-century brick Gothic basilica, the town's main church

The Basilica of St Nicholas (Bazylika św. Mikołaja) is the principal church of Bochnia, a 14th-century brick Gothic structure with a tall belfry visible from across the town. It was raised to the rank of minor basilica in the 1990s.

The interior is Baroque-overlaid Gothic — much of the decoration dates from the 17th and 18th centuries — and the main altar is a particularly elaborate piece of high Baroque woodwork. The basilica is open daily outside service times.
