The Museum of the Kalisz Region brings together archaeology, ethnography, city history, and numismatics. It is the best indoor stop for understanding why Kalisz talks so much about age, trade routes, and Piast-era settlement.
Visit it before or after Zawodzie. The reserve gives you the landscape and reconstruction; the museum gives you the objects and context that make the early city easier to picture.
