The Wojciech Boguslawski Theatre stands by the Prosna River and continues one of Poland's older theatre traditions. The present building dates from the 20th century, but Kalisz's stage history reaches back much further, and the city hosts the long-running Kalisz Theatre Meetings festival.
Even if you do not see a performance, the theatre is worth passing on a walk along the river. If there is a production or festival event during your visit, it can turn Kalisz from a daytime history stop into a proper evening.
