The Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is Sosnowiec's main Catholic church, completed in 1899. Its red-brick exterior is one of the stronger historic landmarks in the city centre.
Inside, look for the polychrome decoration by Wlodzimierz Tetmajer, which gives the cathedral more colour and character than the exterior suggests. It pairs well with nearby Sielecki Castle and the Schon Palace on a short walk through central Sosnowiec.
