Jailhouse -- A Carvoeiro institution since the early 1960s. The only place in town with live music every night. A beautiful old plaster and woodwork building that feels like a proper pub, not a converted shop unit. Guest musicians are welcome, and there is dancing until the early hours. Hemingways -- On the road out of town. Good for a coffee or something stronger at lunchtime, with snacks and a pleasant view.
Rascals -- Up the steep hill to Monte Branco. A beautifully decorated bar with a terrace facing out to sea. Serves everything from beer to champagne at reasonable prices, along with sandwiches and snacks.
