The parish church of Nossa Senhora da Assuncao is one of Alvito's clearest Mudejar buildings. Its exterior keeps the low, whitewashed character of the town, while the interior adds patterned azulejos and carved gilded woodwork.
It is worth seeing together with the castle rather than as a separate destination. The two buildings explain Alvito's mix of Alentejo simplicity and late medieval ornament.
