Lamego's cathedral is one of the city's key historic buildings, with a 16th-century cloister that catches the shift from Gothic to Renaissance design. Inside, the chancel is richly finished with gilding and marble around a neoclassical altarpiece.
It sits close to Lamego's old centre, so it is easy to combine with the castle and the long stairway up to the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remedios.
