Leiria sits roughly halfway between Lisbon and Porto on the A1 motorway, about 150 km from either. By car the city is reached easily in under two hours from Lisbon airport.
Trains and intercity buses both stop here. The Rede Expressos bus service connects Leiria to Lisbon, Coimbra, Porto, and Fátima several times daily; the bus station is a short walk from the centre. The railway line is slower and less useful — most travellers arrive by bus or car.
