Rua da Junqueira is the city's traditional shopping street, a pedestrian-only run of small shops behind the seafront. The Portuguese tile facades, the long-running pastelarias, and the family-run shoe and clothing stores give it the feel of an older Portugal that the larger cities have mostly lost.
The street links Praça do Almada by the Matriz Church to the Avenida dos Banhos near the casino — about 700 metres total. Worth a slow walk for the architecture and the window displays alone.
