Valença's main attraction is its fortress, and within the fortress its walls. Walking the full circuit of the double ramparts takes about an hour and provides excellent views in every direction. Beyond that, the town rewards an unhurried afternoon rather than a full day — the old town inside the walls, the views to Spain, and a cross-border excursion to Tui are the essential elements.
