Craiova Art Museum

Art museum in the Jean Mihail Palace, with Romanian and European collections.

Craiova Art Museum fills the former Jean Mihail Palace, a richly decorated early-20th-century mansion built for one of Romania's wealthiest families. The building is half the attraction, with marble, mirrors, and grand rooms that suit the collection better than a plain white gallery would.

The museum covers Romanian and European art, but many visitors come for the Brancusi room, which includes early works by the sculptor before he became one of modern art's defining names. It is a compact, rewarding stop near the city's central square.
