Nicolae Romanescu Park is Craiova's best outdoor space, a large landscaped park south of the centre. Its design won recognition at the 1900 Paris Universal Exhibition, and the park still has that romantic turn-of-the-century feel: a lake, small islands, bridges, artificial rockwork, long paths, and leafy corners where the city drops away.
It is the place to come when Craiova feels hot or traffic-heavy. Give it time rather than treating it as a quick photo stop; the park is large enough for a proper walk and has enough water, shade, and odd architectural touches to hold your attention.
