Eating Out

Mamaia has dozens of restaurants strung along the promenade and the lakeside. Most serve a predictable mix of Romanian standards (grills, salads, fish), and the sheer competition keeps quality reasonable and prices lower than you would expect at a comparable Western European beach resort. Fresh fish from the Black Sea — especially barbun (red mullet) and platie (bream) — is the local speciality and worth seeking out.
