The Székely National Museum is the main reason to visit Sfântu Gheorghe. Founded from a 19th-century private collection, it became one of the central institutions preserving Szekler history, folk culture, art and natural history.
The building matters almost as much as the collection. Designed by Károly Kós, it has the steep roofs, carved details and Transylvanian regional style that make it feel rooted in the place rather than imported from Bucharest or Budapest.
