The Sculptural Ensemble of Constantin Brancusi is the reason many travellers come to Targu Jiu at all. Created in 1937 and 1938 as a memorial to those who defended the city in the First World War, it turns a walk through town into a sequence of modern sculpture: the Table of Silence, the Gate of the Kiss, and the Endless Column.
What makes it powerful is the open-air setting. The works are not sealed in a museum; they sit on an axis through parks and streets, spare enough to feel almost inevitable. Start at Constantin Brancusi Park and continue toward the Endless Column, giving the ensemble time rather than treating it as three photo stops.
