La Zero

La Zero is one of Vama Veche's most popular restaurants, known for simple, well-prepared fish dishes at fair prices. The menu leans heavily on whatever came off the boats that morning — fried or grilled carp, Black Sea mackerel, and occasional catches of bream and mullet. The terrace seating fills quickly on summer evenings.

The wine list is short and mostly Romanian, which is exactly right. The local white wines from the Murfatlar region pair well with the fish. Service can be slow in peak season but is generally cheerful about it.
