Stufstock

Stufstock is Vama Veche's signature summer event: a rock and alternative music festival held on the beach, usually in late July or early August. It draws a loyal crowd from Bucharest and beyond — the kind of people who care more about the music and the atmosphere than a wristband upgrade.

The setup is deliberately low-key. Stages are set up close to the water, and audiences sprawl on the sand or stand ankle-deep in the Black Sea listening to Romanian and international acts. No corporate sponsors dominate the banners; no VIP enclosures cut off the view. It's one of those festivals where the gaps between sets are as good as the sets.

A story
Stufstock began in the early 2000s as a loose gathering on the beach and grew into one of Romania's most beloved alternative music festivals. The name combines "stuf" (the Romanian word for the reed beds that fringe the Black Sea lagoons) with "Woodstock," and the spirit of that mashup — free, slightly muddy, gloriously informal — has defined it ever since.
