The beach at Vama Veche runs for about a kilometre along the Black Sea, narrower than the resort beaches further north and all the better for it. The sand is fine, the water is calm and shallow close to shore, and in summer the beach fills with tents, sunbathers, and the scattered remnants of the previous night's beach bar.
The southern end, closer to the Bulgarian border, stays quieter. The northern end, near the main cluster of bars and guesthouses, is where the action is. In peak season (July and August), it can get crowded; come in late September and you'll often have long stretches to yourself, the Black Sea turned grey-green and cool, the village suddenly human in scale.
